Whenever we are debilitated or have some disease process going on we
need to recuperate and rest. And that also means that we need to give
our digestive system a break and allow it to rest at the same time. And
one of the easiest ways to do that is with organic foods that are easy
to digest. Here are a few easy to digest organic foods that will do the
body good when recuperating from surgery or disease.
Organic Rice - Organic Rice and especially white rice is nothing but easy to digest starch, (Brown Rice has more Nutrients)
but when we are recuperating from a surgery, or have some disease going
on we may need to allow our digestive system to relax and take a break
and white rice is very easy to digest. And after a while as the
digestive system becomes stronger we can switch to brown rich which has
more nutritive benefit. Also stay away from wheat, spelt, rye, and
barley, they are all related and highly inflammatory, and it's best to
stay away from them in general.
Organic Fruit - Organic fruit is very soothing on
the GI tract and it's very easy to digest. Fruit is amazingly easy to
digest, some fruit nutrients will actually enter our blood stream within
10 to 15 minutes. So organic fruit is very important for anyone
convalescing from some type of debilitating disease. Also fruit juices
are important especially if the intestines need to take a break as in
abdominal surgery and without all the fiber it allows the intestinal
tract to be less active. But after one is recovered it's important to
eat whole foods and that means whole fruits and veggies. Organic papaya,
mango, peaches, nectarines, cantaloupe, pears, apricots, watermelon,
and bananas are all very healing. But stay away from oranges and orange
juice and other acidic fruits when debilitated… they are hard to digest
and add acidity to the body which causes more inflammation.
Organic Oatmeal - Organic oatmeal is also easy to digest. And oatmeal even makes a soothing balm
that covers the GI tract and nurtures the healing of the GI tract. And
making a soothing organic oatmeal drink is great for healing. Taking
cooked oatmeal and adding it to a blender with a little bit of nut milk
of some kind and some honey, vanilla, and perhaps just a touch of
cinnamon makes a very soothing drink for the GI tract. In fact in many
countries a dry powdered form of this drink is sold in markets.
Organic Veggies - Organic Veggies are very healing
and they are important because they contain lots of nutrients that help
the GI tract heal and the body in general. And organic veggie juices are
also very healing and are assimilated into the body within minutes.
Lots of green juices are also important, because green juices alkalis
the body and thus the body can heal. It's almost impossible for the body
to heal being very acidic. Plus winter squash and pumpkin are easy to
digest and also help heal the body. And cucumber juice is very healing,
and other green juices. Sprouts are easy to digest and are full of lots
of great nutrition and are very healing for the whole body. And carrots,
and carrot juice is very easy to digest, plus red beets, green beans,
and asparagus.
Organic Fermented Foods - When we are healing the
body needs all the good probiotic bacteria it can get to build our
immune system. And that means we have to add more probiotic bacteria to
our food. And one of the best ways is with sauerkraut (kimchi is usually too spicy)
but good old sauerkraut is a vitally important food for rebuilding our
immune system and the body. Stay away from all dairy products they are
hard to digest and cause inflammation. In fact all animal proteins cause inflammation so it's best to avoid animal protein at all cost.
Organic Root Veggies - Root veggies are very easy to
digest when they are boiled and mashed. And they are very filling and
full of good nutrients and are easy on the GI tract. And if a person has
nausea and vomiting mashed potatoes, and other roots like taro root,
malanga, cassava or yuca are soothing. In fact cassava or tapioca root
is very healing. Remember not to add any dairy products, use nut milks
instead of dairy products when preparing foods. Also remember that it's
important to stay away from fatty foods, oils, and butters because they
cause diarrhea.
Also it's important to stay away from caffeine, spicy food, processed
food, fast food, junk food, food additives, food chemicals, and sugary
foods and food preservatives.
And if a person is losing weight because they are not active and not
consuming enough calories. Make an organic smoothie of ground white
sesame seeds, bananas, and a nut milk of choice, with a little honey and
they will gain weight… and this smoothie is very tasty.
